1 :: video/action for New Bark + Route 29
What are you following me around for?
[The muffled voice is that of a young boy; about eleven years old, by the pitch, sounding tired and confused. It's followed by a Bagon's babble, then a sigh.]
Never mind.
[There's a clatter, then the 'Gear's audio abruptly clears, as though the mic were moved away from an obstruction. The video clears, too, showing a view of trees and sky and grass on Route 29. A few seconds of silence.]
You shouldn't make a mess of things. [rustle.] What's in there, anyways...? [rustle clunk scrape clatter.] Are these clothes? [thump.] I think this is food- [The Bagon babbles loudly, and the boy yelps, and the 'Gear flips over twice. The video now shows the Bagon running around, Mom's bento lunch in hand, biting the box determinedly. The boy is standing up, watching helplessly.]
Wait, don't take that! It's not yours, it - oof-! [He takes two unsteady steps, leans forward, and falls over. The Bagon hops up onto his back and sits down on top of him, still chewing away on the box.] Let me up..!
[action]
[Before that elegant scene takes place, a purple-haired kid in Youngster garb can be found in New Bark, stumbling his way out of town and falling over every twenty seconds or so. The Bagon orbiting his feet appears to be offering him moral support...or maybe it's just yelling at him. He looks pretty determined to get out to Route 29, scraped knees be damned.]

But only a little.
Mostly.]
He's gonna be following you around for a while, so you might as well get used to it. Let me guess, you aren't supposed to be human, either?

Dorumon clumsily reaches for the source of the voice and drags it to himself across the ground, still pinned down by the insistent Bagon. He blinks at it, turning it around a bit. It...has a screen, and buttons...there's something comforting and familiar about it, though he's never seen anything quite like it before.]
What's a human?
no subject
A human is what you are right now. Welcome to your new home away from home.
no subject
He doesn't remember evolving.]
What do you mean? Who are you?
no subject
Name's Jack. I've only been here about a month, so I don't exactly have all the answers, but I'll do my best.
Right now you're in Johto. The... critter on your back is your pokemon. It's kind of a thing here.

[Tenten doesn't have much patience for those who aren't willing to help themselves, but this kid looks to be trying really hard.]
If you're having trouble walking, try lowering your weight a little. You know, bending your knees and dropping your weight. It'll make you more stable.
Let me up, already. [He squirms, pushing himself to his knees. Bagon tries to stay seated, scooting up towards his shoulders when he starts to move, but ends up tumbling off with a little squawk.
Dorumon uses a tree to pull himself onto his feet.] Bending my knees... [Knees bent. Probably a little too much. He lets go of the tree, wobbles, and grabs onto it again. Tentatively releases his grip, takes a few steps forward, and completely loses his balance - this time he's able to land on his knees instead of kissing the ground like before.]
No, not so much. Like... okay, try standing again, hold onto something, and then just slowly bend your knees until you start to feel more stable.
You're new here, huh?
He'll take his time getting up, now. These shorts don't do much to protect fragile knee skin. (What's up with that, anyways?)]
I...I think so. I don't know a place called Johto. [Alright, time to give this another try...]
Y-yeah, that tends to happen a lot. Um. Welcome to Johto, I guess. There's two regions, Johto and Kanto, and, uh...
Well, let's just say if there's a way back, no one's told me what it is.

[He doesn't really sound too mad, more like he's getting it out of his system by grumbling his sarcasm into the ground. Ssssigh.]
[Because most people don't just take a step...and fall over like that...]
I'm fine. I don't know why I feel like this. [All...long and uncomfortable and misplaced.]

You should get off of him. He won't be able to stand with you on his back.
See, even the voices think so.
[Dorumon sounds tired.]
He'll be able to learn how eventually, but not if you're on him.
And unless you know how to find edible plants, that box is the only food around for the next three days. You should be careful with it or you'll be hungry later.
[Back to the Gear.] What happens in three days?
I can show you a few plants that you can eat, but I don't know how many of them you'll find. Everyone who comes here walks down that route, so other people might have eaten everything already.
[Well not exactly everyone, but close enough.]

...Looks like this kid's is a little more active than Adder was, though.]
Your pokemon might be hungry, if it's trying to open that box. But it'd be better to conserve your meals--and your energy--if you want to travel.
[audio]
He tries rolling over to grab at Bagon, but it jumps off of him and runs beyond his reach.]
I'm trying... [Dorumon lunges. Bagon steps back again.] Give it back!

[audio]
(...That's kind of true about dragons, though, not gonna lie.)]
Ba...bagon? [It looks up at him, still steadily mouthing the corner of the box.] Will you let go of that?...Please...?
[It stares at him.
Then it waddles over, casually, and sets the lunch box down on Dorumon's chest.
Just as casually, it picks up his hand and bites it.
Dorumon yelps and flinches a little, almost jolting away, then just stops and stares as Bagon grumbles around his mouthful of human palm.]
[audio]
...Could have gone better, oops. Hiccup may not be the one bitten, but he still winces.]
Uh, okay. [Wow, he was really sucking with pokemon lately, jeez.] You alright? Er, maybe offer to share, later...?
